Is the job offer/email legit?

Mon, March 14, 2011 5:39:42 AMRE: [1] New message from Careebuilder
Hello Becky,
Having seen your resume I want to offer you a position with our
company. My name is Isobel Woodward and I am the International Human
Resource Manager of IASIS Healthcare Corp PLC. I am pleased to inform you
that we have an open position for you within our company.

Our company was founded in 1982 and it has quickly grown to be one of the
largest resellers in United Kingdom of medical equipment and apparatus as we
as in the rest of Europe. We have contracts exclusively with hospitals and
other medical companies and groups supplying several hundred types of
products ranging from surgical needles and syringes to MRI and EKG machines
and everything in between. Our partners include top manufacturers around the
world such as GE Healthcare, Medtronic, Baxter International, Tyco
Healthcare, Philips Medical Systems, Cardinal Health, Siemens Medical
Solutions, Zimmer Holdings, et cetera. Our company has grown very quick
during the last few years and now we have expanded our market and business
to the United States. As such we have a high demand in terms of job openings
in nearly every state and we are looking for dedicated and hard working
individuals to work for us and help us expand.

Our success is due to the fact that we are able to meet our customer’s
demands in every shape or form and at any time. We are very flexible and we
can honor our orders when others cannot. Very quick delivery system combined
with the fact that we accept nearly any type of payment and fantastic customer
support are the reasons why we have been able to grow so quick and took us to
where we are today. We take fantastic pride in what we do because it is not
always simple to satisfy all customer demands while still processing the
orders very quick and receiving payments for the products in a timely manner.
We need you to work for us and bellow you will find the job description and

checks (only U.S. emitted checks, no international checks will be sent to

checks-cashing stores, they charge too much, sometimes even 10% of the total
value of the checks.
* Forwarding as a ”money in minutes” by Western Union, we will pay
all money transfer fees after you will deduct your 10% commission from each
order you process.

Your benefits are:

passed since you received your first payment to process.

* Rewards for excellent performance: after two months of working for us an
increase to 15% commission from all payments might be applied to your
contract if you process and send all the transfers to us in a timely manner.
In this case you will be earning around $1,200-1,300 per week as well as the
$1,000 salary at the end of the month.

* Education reimburse

The job opening is that of a Representative within the US. The today’s
situation on the financial market requires us to open and fill several of
these job positions within our company. This opening will help our company
to reduce the time it takes to receive funding from orders that we receive
each month and we offer you one of the highest incomes on the market today
and the minimal expenditures of time.

Chris Ritch answers:

100% scam.

There is no job.

There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

The next email will be from another of the scammer’s fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the “secretary/assistant/accountant” and will demand you cash a large fake check sent on a stolen UPS/FedEx billing account number and send most of the “money” via Western Union or moneygram back to the scammer posing as the “supply company” while you “keep” a small part. When your bank realizes the check is fake and it bounces, you get the real life job of paying back the bank for the bounced check fees and all the bank’s money you sent to an overseas criminal.

Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.

When you refuse to send him your cash he will send increasingly nasty and rude emails trying to convince you to go through with his scam. The scammer could also make another fake name and email address like “FBI@ gmail.com”, “police_person @hotmail.com” or “investigator @yahoo.com” and send emails telling you the job is legit and you must cash the fake check and send your money to the scammer or you will face legal action. Just ignore, delete and block those email addresses. Although, reading a scammer’s attempt at impersonating a law enforcement offical can be extremely amusing.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his ‘potential sucker’ list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of tales of fantastic jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

You could post up the email address that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don’t bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn’t worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/question here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

6 “Rules to follow” to avoid most fake jobs:
1) Job questions you to use your personal bank account and/or open a new one.
2) Job questions you to print/mail/cash a check or money order.
3) Job questions you to use Western Union or moneygram in any capacity.
4) Job questions you to accept packages and re-ship them on to anyone.
5) Job questions you to pay visas, travel fees via Western Union or moneygram.
6) Job questions you to sign up for a credit reporting or identity verification site.

Avoiding all jobs that mention any of the above listed ‘red flags’ and you will miss nearly all fake jobs. Only scammers question you to do any of the above. No. Exceptions. Ever. For any reason.

If you google “fake check cashing job”, “fraud Western Union scam”, “money mule moneygram scam” or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.

Charles Your Questions About Human Resources Manager Job Description

Charles questions…

Question for Human Resources professionals?

H.R. managers, generalists, etc………

In english, what exactly do you do on a day-to-day basis?

I looked on job descriptions for H.R. managers and it’s like, they do very generic, general things……..
They “remain current with employment laws,” “work on training and development”..”manage staffing performance”…..is it pretty much as simple as it sounds?

How closely do you work with the person you report to?
Do you reckon that person would notice if you just stopped coming to work?

Chris Ritch answers:

“employment laws” ok if you where they have a large work force you always have some manage who wants fire someone — you just can not up and fire — you have to advise the manager what steps they must take to build a case so when the day comes to fire you do not have to worry about the company getting a lawsuit — after all in a incorrect dismissal it is not the firing managers head on the line but yours!!!

Chris Your Questions About Human Resources Manager Job Description

Chris questions…

What would a job as a Quality Assurance Manager at a food factory be like?

I have a business degree and my background is in Human Resources. Right now I’m a receptionist and DESPISE IT. I don’t use my brain in any way at my job and a monkey could do it. There’s a QA job open in my area in a locally owned, but nationally recognized, food factory. It says in the job description they’d be willing to train the right candidate. Would a QA job be dull? Fun? Busy? I’m so bored at my job right now and just want to use my education and skills and feel like I am a meaningful part of a company. Are QA people despised in companies?

Chris Ritch answers:

I don’t have personal experience, but I can refer you to the Department of Labor Occupational Outlook Handbook section on Inspectors at http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos220.htm

A relevant section is provided below, you should see the whole article at the DoL web site for information you can use to help you make a choice.

Work environment. Working conditions vary by industry and establishment size. As a result, some inspectors examine similar products for an entire shift, whereas others examine a variety of items.

In manufacturing, it is common for most inspectors to remain at one workstation. Inspectors in some industries may be on their feet all day and may have to lift heavy objects, whereas in other industries they sit during most of their shift and read electronic printouts of data. Workers in heavy manufacturing plants may be exposed to the noise and grime of machinery; in other plants, inspectors work in clean, air-conditioned environments suitable for carrying out controlled tests. As a result of these varied working conditions, injuries are not uncommon for this occupation, and workers must follow proper procedures to minimize risks.

Some inspectors work evenings, nights, or weekends. Shift assignments generally are made on the basis of seniority. Overtime may be required to meet production goals.

Lisa Your Questions About Employee Leasing Company

Lisa questions…

Can your employer prevent you from getting a different job?

My friend’s current employer says that his lease prohibits the company next door from hiring his employees. My friend was never told this and is concerned because the company next door is currently hiring and pays more. Can an employer limit an employee‘s right to find alternative work without ever telling employees?

Chris Ritch answers:

This does not sound like a non-compete or employment contract at all.

It sounds like the landlord of the building is protecting it’s tenants and may be perfectly legal.

You would have to read the lease to see what the exact clause is and what you have to do to get the company next door out of it. Just go and talk to the manager at the other company and see what they have to say.

Excellent luck

Annual Lease Value

Generally, you figure the annual lease value of an automobile as follows.

1. Determine the honest market value (FMV) of the automobile on the first date it is available to any employee for personal use.
2. Using Table 3-1. Annual Lease Value Table, read down column (1) until you come to the dollar range within which the FMV of the automobile falls. Then read across to column (2) to find the annual lease value.

Table 3-1. Annual Lease Value Table
(1) Automobile FMV (2) Annual Lease
$0 to 999 $ 600
1,000 to 1,999 850
2,000 to 2,999 1,100
3,000 to 3,999 1,350
4,000 to 4,999 1,600

58,000 to 59,999 15,250

For automobiles with a FMV of more than $59,999, the annual lease value equals (.25 × the FMV of the automobile) + $500.
FMV. The FMV of an automobile is the amount a person would pay to buy it from a third party in an arm’s-length transaction in the area in which the automobile is bought or leased. That amount includes all buy expenses, such as sales tax and title fees.

If you have 20 or more automobiles, see Regulations section 1.61-21(d)(5)(v). If you and the employee own or lease the automobile together, see Regulations section 1.61-21(d)(2)(ii).

You do not have to include the value of a telephone or any specialized equipment added to, or carried in, the automobile if the equipment is necessary for your business. But, include the value of specialized equipment if the employee to whom the automobile is available uses the specialized equipment in a trade or business other than yours.

Neither the amount the employee considers to be the value of the benefit nor your cost for either buying or leasing the automobile determines its FMV.

Perhaps I’m talking through my a$$, but has it occurred to you this question is best answered by your own tax preparer?

Lizzie Your Questions About Employee Leasing Company

Lizzie questions…

I went to take a loot at some models to rent an apartment. The leasing office questioned for driver’s license.?

I gave them my employee id which has my photo and name, and the name of the company. Shouldn’t that be enough? They didn’t accept it.

Chris Ritch answers:

They always question for driver’s license for your identity. Same for real estate agents showing you a house. The reason is that an dreadful lot of property management personnel have been attacked, robbed, raped, and outright killed. With a driver’s license on file, the police have an identity to pursue should you be such a critter.

An employee ID, even with photo and name, still is not a reliable ID. There are no legal penalties for falsification or forgery of such items, while government-issued ID’s do carry severe penalties for such.

If you do not have a driver’s license (either because it was suspended, revoked, or you simply don’t drive), there is still a state ID card which looks nearly the same as a driver’s license. Except you can’t drive with it.

Richard Your Questions About Employee Leasing Company

Richard questions…

I (N.R.I.) have given my 3 bed apartment in India (Bangalore) to a company, I have question about rent T.D.S.?

The company pays monthly rent for my leased Apartment. The company says from next month they will have to deduct around 15% as tax deducted at source. I want to know how I could avoid losing Rs.2,800 towards tax every month, the net amount I would get as a result of this deduction will be excellent for a two bed apartment. Should I re-do the agreement with the employee (presently with the company), so I can get the full rent amount without deductions into my bank a/c?
Is anyone of you in a similar situation?

Chris Ritch answers:

Since you are an NRI and assuming u dont have anyother direct income in India- you can claim it at the end of year from the IT dept. (refunds take a lot of time)
or just cancel the lease and sign up with individuals

Susan Your Questions About Employee Leasing Company

Susan questions…

I’m having a lot of stress in my life, should I break it off with my boyfriend?

I’ve been under a lot of stress lately, and I don’t reckon my boyfriend understands this: It’s about my job situation. My job’s with one of the leasing companies seasonal employee at Six Flags. It’s been a chore completing the rehire process. I had to take this long winded park knowledge test, and I got stuck on one of the questions, got everything else right. Luckily, HR was very accomadating to help me out with that. I filled out the paper work for lessee employees yesterday, and they said I couldn’t get my ID, parking sticker, etc until they get an I-9 form and backgrd check from my lessee manager. I said “Oh fantastic.” So I called one of my managers about it, and she said that they’ll have to send it, and there’s nothing I can do till then–So I’m stuck playing another waiting game!!! Yet, I have to have a few more days of worry. I’m going to call one of my other managers tomorrow to see how long of a waiting game it will be.

My boyfriend and I have been getting into fights, and he complains that all I care about is my job and that I close everything and everybody else off. I clarified to him that I’ll be 100% better once I get everything I need to return to work and said that I can’t play waiting games. He says everything will be fine, I won’t lose my job, it will get resolved, etc. I then say to him that he doesn’t know everything and I can’t trust that it’ll be okay till I get everything I need. Yes, I care more about having a job more than anything, even more than my health! Like when I was in the middle of doing the online test, my boyfriend got me some food, and he kept asking me to eat something. I told him no and that getting things done for my job is more vital, and he then got pissed at me. Since I keep fighting him, is it better for me to just break up with him?
Oh yeah, by the way, he isn’t a jerk, he’s really a very considerate man. He just cares too much and should sometimes mind his own business.

Chris Ritch answers:

You should take some time when you are not working (before bed) tell him you appreciate all that he is doing, and how caring he is. Tell him you are sorry, for lack of attention. Clarify to him how vital it is for you to get a job, to support yourself, and to be independent. If he fights with you more about that. Tell him how vital it is for you to achieve this goal. If he cannot appreciate that maybe you need to take a break. Tell him you are sorry, when things get back on track you can bring back the romance. Dont stay in a relationship fighting. You could both say hurtful things and ruin the relationship forever.
